Anditheron and Artoclasia bowls:
| The artoclasia is a service whereby five loaves of bread are offered as a sign of faith and devotion. The five loaves are reminiscent of the
five loaves that Jesus Christ blessed in the desert and by which five thousand of His
hearers were fed. The artoclasia symbolizes the Agape
meals of the early Christian communities. Christ has been repeatedly
designated as the Bread of Life, and as “the Bread which came from heaven”. Artos means Bread in Greek, clasia is a greek ending that denotes "the making of". Andithoron is Bread pieces that is blessed and symbolizes the Body of Jesus in Holy Communion.

Commemorates on: November 30 This Saint was from Bethsaida of Galilee; he was the son of Jonas and the brother of Peter, the chief of the Apostles. He had first been a disciple of John the Baptist; afterwards, on hearing the Baptists witness concerning Jesus, when he pointed Him out with his finger and said, "Behold the Lamb of God, Which take away the sin of the world" he straightway followed Christ, and became His first disciple; wherefore he is called the First called of the Apostles. Classic Catholic Saint Icons Athanasios Size No.4550-60 Size : 6x9 cm
Commemorates on: January 18 He was born in Alexandria about the year 296. He received an excellent training in Greek letters and especially in the sacred Scriptures. Saint Alexander, the Archbishop of Alexandria, brought him up in piety, ordained him his deacon, and, after deposing Arius for his blasphemy against the Divinity of the Son of God, took Athanasius to the First Council in Nicaea in 325; Saint Athanasius was to spend the remainder of his life labouring in defence of this holy Council. In 326, before his death, Alexander appointed Athanasius his successor. The great Athanasius passed the remaining seven years of his life in peace. Saint Athanauus wrote the life of Saint Anthony the Great, with whom he spent time in his youth; ordained Saint Frumentius first Bishop of Ethiopia; and in his Paschal Encyclical for the year 367 set forth the books of the Old and New Testaments accepted by the Church as canonical. |

Church Banners and Flags Small Flag Byzantine Double-Headed Eagle Style Byzantine Flag with Eagle
Flag size : 15x23cm According to the history Michael VIII Paleologue adopted this symbol after he had reconquered Constantinople from the Crusaders in 1261. It represented looking towards the East (Asia Minor, traditional power center of the Byzantine-government in exile after the IVth Crusade) and theWest (newly reconquered land in Europe.) The double-headed eagle had in the two centuries of Paleologue rule become identified not just with the dynasty but with the Empire itself and, more generally, with institutions and cultural ideas outside the Byzantine Empire that still remained centered on Constantinople. Most obvious of these is the Greek Orthodox Church, centered in theory in Istanbul to this day, and so it is not surprising that the Church would use the flag. |
