Commemorates on:
15 of November
Theodora was probably one of the most powerful and influential women in Byzantine history. She became an Empress of Byzantium in 527 and later the wife of Emperor Justinian I. Her intelligence and position made her Justinian’s most trusted adviser and allowed her to use her power to promote important religious and social policies. The Orthodox Church celebrates her feast day on November 14. Her name in Greek is “Θεοδώρα”, which means gift of God.
